APAC: Account Director


The Account Director is responsible for managing accounts and clients. Their main goal is to provide exceptional client experience and increase customer satisfaction.

They oversee projects that their teams are heading up and provide resources needed to service each project.

 

They are there to advise, foresee and direct the Project Management team to successfully manage small and large-scale events. They are the clients’ main point of contact and ensure the highest standards of communication between client and the rest of the team.  Account Directors work alongside all relevant departments to establish the strategic direction of the project and to ensure specific client needs are delivered.  Once established, they work with their team who will execute the agreed approach and liaise with the client until the end of the project. The Director is aware of the progress of each project and also touches base with the client throughout the project and post-event for the debrief.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

Manages and maintains the key relationship with the client

Develops an understanding of the clients’ department and company strategies

Annual or bi-annual strategic planning with the client

Promotes the expansion of the business with existing clients by engaging in future, long term planning

Collaborate on brief creation with the client – offer insights and creative direction

Initiates client gatherings to establish relationships and connections (ie entertainment through meals, concerts, etc.)

Leads and initiates debriefs with the clients after each event

Leads a team consisting of Senior Account Managers, Account Managers and Account Executives

The Director plays a key role in creating a clear communication system within their team

Develops and retains talent within their team – through incentives, skills development and by setting bi annual targets

Collaborates with the heads of departments to deliver against strategic client goals

Resources the department, identifying talent gaps and high-potentials, assists with recruitment and long term resourcing planning.

Directs pitch strategies with Heads of Departments

 

Skills and Qualifications:

 

Business degree or related qualification

Proven experience in a leadership role

Confidence that fosters trust within the client

An in-depth understanding of client management

Effectively lead and develop internal team

The ability to direct meetings and ensure all HoDs are clear on their contribution

High service orientation

Awareness of creative and production processes within the events industry

Strong communication skills

Calm, polite, and professional behaviour

Reliable and self-motivated
